The Racine County Public Works Department provides essential services to plan, design, construct, maintain, repair, manage and operate Racine County’s buildings, facilities, public infrastructure, natural resources, and park and highway systems in a manner that provides the best value and highest quality service available to satisfy the needs of our citizens.
The Department functions with three divisions: Buildings and Facilities, County Parks, and Highways. The three divisions work to provide efficient, effective, high quality, constantly improving service to the citizens of Racine County through the coordinated resources and expertise of Public Works staff. Our objectives are to safeguard and improve the County’s investment in its public infrastructure, to protect public safety within County property and to provide for the commercial and leisure activities of our citizens which will maintain and improve the quality of life in Racine County.
The goal of the Buildings and Facilities division is to provide an environment that is clean, attractive and accessible to the citizens of the County who use the facilities. Secondly, there is a commitment to provide a work place that is conducive to employee’s needs with conditions such as proper climate control, appropriate lighting, and a clean, safe and secure working environment.The goal of the Park division is to provide quality areas and facilities for the leisure activities of our citizens and tourists. We strive to maintain, improve and preserve Racine County’s park land in a safe and attractive manner and at a level of service that is acceptable to a majority of the citizens at the lowest possible cost.
The goal of the Highway division is to maintain, plan and construct County Trunk highways and to maintain State Trunk highways and freeways in a manner that will provide citizens of the County with a safe, usable roadway system at a level of service acceptable to a majority of its citizens and at the lowest possible cost. It is also our objective to provide support and assistance, both physical and technical, to preserve, protect and improve Racine County government’s infrastructure.
